Bringing down His Fire

Text: 1 Kings 18:30 -40
For us to bring down the fire of the Almighty God we must do as Elijah did as illustrated in 1 Kings 18:30-40 below:
- Tell people about Him – “Then Elijah said to all the people,” –1King 18:30; Mk 16:15. If you really what the power of God to follow you spread the Good news!
- Repair the altar broken by Jezebel (sin) 1 John 1:8-10. The altar is a place of :
a) total surrender to the Lord
b) sacrifice
c) alignment of our heart with the Lord.
Our sins can alienate us from the Lord. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the
Lord will not hear” –Psalm 66:18
- Build the altar in the name of the Lord. – Vs 32 “then with the stones he built an alter in the name of the Lord” — It is the name of Jesus that gives you access to the throne of the Father (John 14:6)
- You must come to the Lord empty, so that he might fill you with the living water. John 4:13-14, Rev 7:17
- Ask God to fill your heart with the Holy Spirit till overflowing Vs 35 “so the water ran all around the alter”; …
- You must know who He is and what is capable of doing . Vs 36 …”Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel”…
- Humble yourself in His presence Vs 36 “…and I am Your servant”
- Let the Word dwell richly in you, so that you do all things in accordance with His Word Vs 36 “…that I have done all these things at Your word.”
- You ask for His signs and wonders so that :
a) people may know that He is God
b) He might showcase His handiwork
c) sinners might repent. Vs 37 “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God and that you have turned their hearts back to you again”
- You must execute all the idols of life. Vs 40 “And Elijah said to them, seize the prophets of Baal!, Do not let one of them escape! So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to Brook Kishon and execute them there”
Prayers
- Father let nothing separate me from you
- Father manifest your power in my life so that the world may know you are God
- Father, I surrender all to you, use me for your glory.
